Having grown up in New Oxford I've been here more than a few times but I've never loved it. In fact, kind of the opposite. If when you think of diner food you expect veggies emptied from a can and warmed up for you, you might just enjoy this place. If when you think of a local diner you think of quaint decor, a 'home-made' dish or two on the daily special board, something authentic and hearty, you might be disappointed. The atmosphere is not so much cozy as it is more, 'hospital cafeteria'. You might instead try the Menges Route 30 Diner & Dairy, just a little further East on Route 30, for a better experience. Or York General Hospital's Cafeteria, another thirty or so miles down the road.

I pulled in here some time around 10:30 am-ish Sunday morning for breakfast on my way home. I was looking for a Diner-esque place and this place certainly fit the bill. I was asked when I walked in if I wanted to be seated in smoking or non-smoking. Of course I chose the non-smoking area. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash with two eggs over easy, Home Fries, and a toasted English Muffin. I asked if they could overcook the hash and make it crispy. I hate mushy hash. A little while later my food came out - the hash was not even close to what I had requested. Oh well, I ate it anyways as I was very hungry. I slathered on the Tabasco sauce and black pepper onto the eggs and hash. Just your basic, country, small town diner experience - which is to say that it was good. I wolfed down breakfast and was back on the road by 11:00 am.

Went in for the first time on a Saturday at 11AM. They told us they weren't service breakfast anymore that day. What diner doesn't have breakfast at 11am on a weekend? We didn't even bother ordering and left. It looks pretty clean inside though.

I have been here 5 or 6 times and each time it gets worse. A few years back it seems the kitchen and wait staff had some pride in what they were doing. But now the food is just barely edible. Our last visit this past Sunday (9/22/13) was the last one I will make there. We both ordered the Maryland Crab soup...usually it is good to decent here. Not today...it was brown and bland and the crab was mushy. Wye River out of a can is better. My better half ordered the hot turkey sandwich, and it looked like hospital food...and not in a good way. I got the bacon cheeseburger and was asked how I wanted it cooked. I said medium rare....it came out slimy and hockey puckesque with all the flavor of cardboard. Just nasty. Plus the bun was not toasted...not that that is a big deal but in this case it just acted like a sponge for the grease. Come on get the burger right at least. in the past I have had the fried chicken and it was very good. But they have really gone down hill. Also the mens room looked like it was taken right out of a gas station....and not a good clean one. The desserts in the case were all wrapped with seran wrap so there was no visual appeal. Look the idea behind the dessert case is to show them off...not make you want to skip them. Ugg...don't waste your time. There are McDonalds and Burger King just up the street...that will be better. AS for the service...well while our waitress was nice enough she seemed to slam down everything she brought to the table and was very loud.

Really fast service. Breakfast prices low. There's a display of desserts that looks awesome. I'll have to come back for lunch or dinner
